This is the last egg to hatch. It is day 23 and I came out at 8am to her pipped. It’s now 5pm and the hole is not any bigger and she is chirping very loudly. The pip is at the small end of the egg. This is a hen hatch, and mamma has taken the other babies off the nest for now to eat and drink. So I’m keeping the warm.

Do you have an incubator? If she looks shrink wrapped or is making struggling sounds you may need to help. Most malpostioned chicks can hatch fine on their own. If she seems to be stuck or shrink wrapped, read this Article 'Guide to Assisted Hatching for All Poultry'.

Unless she really seems stuck, I wouldn't assist until 24 hours have passed from the external pip. If you start helping too soon and too fast you could accidently hit a blood vessel or she may not have absorbed the yolk all the way.

I don’t have an incubator. I’m letting the mamma and babies eat and drink while keeping the egg warm, then I’m gonna out momma back on the nest with the egg and babies. And I guess keep checking on it.

I thought I would let you know. This is “pip” she is just fine, just hatched. She pipped the wrong end, externally pipping early because she couldn’t internally pip. We had to help a TINY bit, because of how she was positioned. But one love she was ready she GTFO lol. Anyways, you were the only who replied, and I just wanted to say thank you. That link was IMMENSELY helpful. And I appreciate it.
