About a year ago we "inherited" a beautiful hen. Our neighbor found her in his alley in a cardboard box that had been taped shut. She was in bad shape, but quickly recovered. We tried introducing her into our next door neighbor's established flock to no avail - its rough out there for a single lady. Not sure what else we could do, we decided to keep her and she became part of our family, forming a sweet bond with our Australian Shepherd. However, as a flock animal, it's apparent to us that she's feeling a little insecure and even lonely by herself. We're looking to rehome her with someone who is just starting a flock, where she can be easily integrated as a single chicken along with other newbies.
