I ordered these from McMurray. I received 9 of the Campines ( 3 roosters and 6 hens) and 15 of the Andalusians (2 black roos, 2 splash roos, 2 blue roos, and the rest evenly split between blue and black hens). I intend to keep the 3 best golden hens, based on color, conformation and barring pattern. Now my questions.... Should I choose the best roo based on the same criteria? One Golden roo has poor color, poor conformation, and poor attitude so he's out. Of the other 2 one is much friendlier but the other is marginally better in the other areas. Which would you choose and why?
Now to the Andalusians. There are 2 very nice blue hens and 2 very nice black hens. I'll keep these. Of the roos the best ( again based on conformation, attitude, etc.) is a black. However, if I understand correctly, he would only produce black chicks when bred to the black hens and I don't really want that so he's out. The splash roos are just ok in most ways but one of these has the best personality of any of the Andalusians and I sort of like the idea of using him for color over both the black hens and blue hens. Of the 2 blue roos one is very nice ( good color and conformation) but more shy and a bit small. Would you choose the splash or the blue and why?
Also if someone could direct me to a site with more info on standards for these 2 breeds I would appreciate it very much.
P.S. Some hens I'm not choosing due to crooked tails, crooked breast bones, poor color etc.
