Needed: a reason not to roast Barndevelder hens

I have a Barndevelder hen in my flock of 5, she is extremely flighty, even as the rest of them have calmed down and even follow me around. I only have 2 hens that haven't started laying, her and the Cochin Banty. My other 3 girls have been laying since September (I got them all in May and they were about 5 weeks old). Right now mine is just a freeloader, who runs away from everything.

I have a Barnevelder pullet; she has been laying since the beginning of last month - she was 27 weeks old when she started

. She isn't very friendly, but that is mostly my fault I think; I didn't interact with her and her "siblings" as much as I maybe should have when they were babies. Her eggs are pretty dark, I think - chocolate, but milk chocolate rather than dark chocolate. She is very pretty, and her guy, the Barnevelder cockerel, is extremely handsome.

Thanks for the input. I am really glad to be hearing from some folks who have Barndevelders. Does anyone have experience with their broodiness? Some where I read they make good parents. Also are the roos aggressive; are they protective of the flock? Even if these 2 never tame down to be friendly I am trying to decide if I want to raise some babies next spring.
