Needing help with butchering in Menifee

Hi all! As the title says I live in Menifee CA and I am in need of a mentor to show me first hand how to process my 7 chickens. I have watched videos, read forums and tried to educate myself as best I can - but when I went to actually do the deed today it did not go according to plan. DON'T WORRY the chicken is fine for now. Walked away without a scratch. I think its my technique that needs work. Anyway, anyone local that can either come to my place and show me, or that I can come learn from? I have all of the equipment needed, just want to be sure I am doing it as humanely as possible. Thank you!

Considering it's only 2 degrees here in Chicagoland tonight...I'm rather inclined to offer services, but am afraid the air-travel would be a bit costly...now if a beach and a cold drink are involved, well, I might be inclined to say 'what the heck'! (but reality check here - I work!)

If no one posts here, try the individual state listings under the 'Social' tab of the forum, I believe they're under "Where am I, Where are you?" section. That's where the Illinois one is. If you've got chickens, you've had to dispatch someone somewhere along the line....

Thanks guys! I have been thinking about it for a while now and I think my problem is that I tried to cut too far down the neck and got too many feathers in the way to get a good cut... or in this case, any cut at all! I will try again, I just hope I can find someone with experience to make sure I am doing it correctly. My chickens are not "pets" but that doesn't mean I want them to suffer at all during this process. Anyway, I appreciate the replies!

Hi Jake,

I am in the Pasadena area. If you cannot find anyone to help you, I can make the trek and help you. The only thing is I am doing trainings on Saturdays until the middle of next month, so the soonest I could do it is President's Day weekend.

I will keep up the search for someone more local to me, but if I can't find any help your assistance would be very welcome. Just hate for you to have to come all this way with the cost of gas these days. I will be in touch! Thank you so much
