Needing to know the breed mix…

Hey guys I’ve acquired these 2 babies I know the girl is a jap bantam x silkie but the boy has me stumped I know he’s a silkie x ??? Any one got any ideas on what he might be crossed with?? I only know he’s silkie x coz he’s got the 5 toes like a silkie does… and I don’t know any other breed that has that..

The female is a silkie cross. The male does not appear to have any silkie in him at all.

Your boy isn't a silkie cross. I can only tell you that he is a mutt.

Silkies are not the only breed with 5 toes. There are also Dorkings, Houdans, Faverolles, Sultans, and maybe more than that.

Most of the breeds with 5 toes have crests, or beards, or both, and your male doesn't. So I think it's more likely that he has a 5-toed ancestor several generations back, instead of any such breed being one of his parents.

How common are Dorkings over in Australia? They have 5 toes, short legs, and no beard or crest. If they are not rare, he could be a Dorking mix.

That’s what I thought.. the person I got him off said that he was a rhodisean red (I think he meant a RIR) but there’s nothing to suggest that…
his dad (the cockerels) looks exactly like him… 5toes and all…and all the girls he was running around with are all silkie x … the cross in the girls is definitely Japanese bantam as they have the same tail the same stumpy legs and the same “shape” to them as my jap bantam girl and the babies I just sold

but in saying that the person. I got them both from didn’t even know what an arunacana or and EE was… so

So he got the 5 toes from his dad, but we still don't know where his dad got them, so that just pushes the question back one more generation.

The chickens may be mixes, descended from mixes, with no pure breeds recent enough to find.
