Needing to rebuild the building part of a coop.

My chicken coop consists of two large separated yards. about 100sqft per yard with a connecting building that is about 60sq.ft
the building was previously a garden shed converted to the coop. Now it is rotting and needs to be rebuilt.

I am also wanting to downsize the birds I have to 4.

I need some ideas for the coop area.

The type of coop you build will depend on where you live. My coop is three sided since we have hot summers and mild winters. My chickens only use the coop for roosting and their nesting boxes as they spend all day in their attached 400 sq ft run. If you have colder winters then you need a bigger coop so the birds have a place to get out of the elements in winter and not get cabin fever. I like lots of roosts about the same height off the ground so the birds have plenty of room to sleep and no fighting over the highest spot.
