I orderd a bunch of Araucana chicks. They are 5 weeks old now. They're just great but there is this white one... She has green feet like the rest of the bunch so I assume she is the same. Anyway, she needs a bath. How can I get her clean?

Why does she need a bath?? Are they kept outside? Once you wash him or her she will just roll in the dirt again. If you do decide to wash it you have to keep it inside until it is completely dry. When we wash chickens for a show they are washed & blow dried & kept in the house over night.

You would wash it just like a kid, one tube w/soap (ivory) one tube w/water & viniger (cuts the soap). Be sure to keep it's head out of the water or it will drown. You can look in the showing thread or use the search feature for more information.

Warm water and mild soap (baby shampoo will work if you have it). For a little one like this the most important things are to get them dried off and warmed quickly after, and to figure out why this one is the only to be dirty. She may have some issues that you will need to keep an eye out for.
I usually just put a couple inches of water in the kitchen sink and use the sprayer to get the rough spots. Have a towel handy for dry off and get it back under the lamp asap.

Thanks for posting this question. I had nno idea you could bathe a chick. Mine had a few bit's of poo stuck to their feather's when we got them but I took a warm rag and helt the dirty part between the rag till it softened enough to slip right off. I worry that the other chicks will peck if they have poo on them.

I had a chick yesterday morning with poo all over it's head (don't ask me how it got there???) So I took it inside and washed it by dipping a paper towel in warm soapy water. It wasn't much poo, but it took awhile to get it off that way. After I got as much poo off as possible, I gently rubbed it with a dry rag several times to get it as dry as possible, then put the chick back under the heat lamp. I checked on it every 5 minutes or so to make sure that she dried out (I was worried about it getting a chill). After about 10 minutes you couldn't tell that she had been wet at all and she was poo free.
