Anyone around Sheboygan that could help us out? We have 6 hens, 2 1 year old production red, 4 10 week BO, and BR. It's april, I'm a teacher, husband is an engineer, we're trustworthy. We have 7 days to find new homes.I'm hoping that realistically we'll pack up and find a new house in 3 months. We'd pay for "boarding". So sad:( Glad though, this is what I needed to finally decide to move, I am DONE commuting.

Happy news~ One of my co-workers is taking them for a while until we find a new house and sell our current one (sometime this summer), so we get our babies back!! We put leg bands on them so we'll know which ones are ours. IT's funny because there was no reason to stay where we are (I have kids attending school in the district I teach, taxes are getting higher etc.) It's funny that making me get rid of my chickens was my last straw:) they are my joy!!!

sad to hear your neighbors are so intolerant. But...I'm glad to hear you made such a big decision...and it sounds like you are happy and excited about it.

I guess you've had these chickens for a while - what happened that changed in your neighborhood?

Who the *bleep* knows!?I think they saw the 10 chicks we had in the back shed thinking we were keeping all of them- we didn't of course. We had asked all of our neighbors permission last year, they all loved coming over and playing with them. Guessing it was the one cranky old couple behind us, they knew about them, my chickens are always enclosed or supervised and are so quite, we are also very clean animal owners and make sure it's mucked etc. whatever.

"People" drive me nuts....I know..., I am one! LOL UGH. That's a shame. We are just now getting into this BYC thing...and ours are in the brooder right now. In a few more weeks they will go outside. All of the houses where we are sit on two or more acres, but there are no trees really..so everything is very open. There is no restriction on chickens where we are, but I don't want to call too much attention so we built the coop out of the swing set to look more like a playhouse at a glance. Neighbors are all pretty easy going - but you never know who might give a hassle. Plus one neighbor lets their large dogs wander all over...and I'm afraid they are going to be a problem for letting the girls out to exercise...so I'm looking for ways to extend the wired area within the swing set. But...this is because of...neighbors that don't control their dogs. Am I going to report them? No...it is what it is, but still frustrating.

Wondering around on your property would be annoying. None of my anythings wonder on anyone's property.
People need to mind their own, If I was a jerk and didn't care that's one thing...
Your coop sounds cool though, post pics.
