is there any updates on the chickens

Yes, some hours and about 20 posts ago:

my parents know about this and they are the ones handling it but they asked me to get advice on here too. I'm not planning on letting her keep them by any means. These were my first incubator hatched chicks and they are all my personal pets. I'm currently working on fixing the fence and it certainly wont happen again. We're going to try to talk to her and if that fails, then we'll get the police. I had no right letting my chickens on her property so she has the right to be annoyed but that dosn't mean she can capture and keep my chickens.

I highly recommend getting a fence. This is actually what a lot of people tell others to do if they find them their property. I wonder what the chances are that this person is one of the “complainers” coming on here asking for advice and then being told to keep them to teach the owner, you, a lesson. Sounds like a nasty circle of bad advice going on.
Get a fence. They are your animals and therefore your responsibility to make sure they don’t get on others’ property. I don’t know the laws in your area, but you may want to read up.

I feel I should add that “finders keepers” was nullified in elementary school. Technically she stole them. Her asking for pictures sounds reasonable BUT how many people have knocked on her door claiming them? I doubt many.
My thoughts exactly. We were all entrenched in that thread where people were telling the land owner to keep her neighbor's chickens. I hope all those who recommended that are now seeing what happens when someone actually does that. It isn't right.

I feel bad for the person dealing with this. If it were me, I'd get the law involved. But it's also a good example of what happens when you aren't responsible for your animals.

I hope you get your birds back.

thanks for the update i glad your parents are getting this under controlled my parents probably wouldn't do anything because i am not supposed to have chickens where we live but mine have a fenced in area and my neighbors said their cool with it
They'll be fine with it until something goes wrong. Neighbors can be like that.

It would be great if minors would mention that they are under age when they start a new thread. I also am noticing a large number of minors here. I know it's a family site, but it does change the way I respond.
I would agree with that but I do think that if it's not relevant to the thread (e.g. 'what kind of brooder heat source is best to use') it is an unnecessary risk. As wonderful as BYC is, it is still public and kids are easy targets for scammers, hackers, and pedophiles.

Go to your neighbor, and tell her that you will pay for any damage that was done, and clean up any mess that the chickens made. In return, she gives your chickens back. If she doesn't agree to this, then I would go to the police.
Yes, you should not have let your chickens onto her property, but she should not be keeping your birds. It's not a nice thing to do, especially to a minor.
