Neighbors Rooster attacking us

Welcome to BYC. Im a rooster lover, bubuI wouldn't keep a rooster that was attacking people. Your neighbor has a responsibility to contain her chickens, just as she would a dog.
She is doing all of us, who keep chickens, a disservice. People like that are the reason that cities pass laws banning poultry.
You did her a favor getting rid of the rooster. Someone might have filed a lawsuit.
Thank you

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Your neighbor is way out of line and doesn't have a leg to stand on regarding you removing her rooster. Every single animal owner on the planet has a responsibility to contain their animals to their property. I wouldn't tolerate the hens digging up and dust bathing in your flower beds either.
I would start sending her bills for your labor to restore your landscaping. They need to properly contain their flock. Period. END OF STORY.
I keep mine contained behind electrified poultry netting and they no longer attempt escape.

Our neighbor owns several chickens, turkey and a bad rooster. We don't own any livestock at all but respect anyone who does as long as they are contained on their own property. Our neighbor lets her chickens out to roam free, which is fine by me, but soon it became a problem. I approached her several times politely about her rooster becoming increasing rude towards us. He attacked my husband twice, chased me up the driveway from the mailbox, then attacked me while taking groceries from the car. When I approached her about it she informed me that her next door neighbors had called the law on her and now have a no trespassing order against her about the same reasons, chickens . She informed us that her husband is trying to contain them but they keep flying out. The last straw was when this rooster tried attacking my son and his daughters, one is 2 years old and the other is 7 years old. When she was informed of this, her answer was do whatever you have to do to protect your kiddos. With this in mind I called someone to come and get this mean rooster off my property, letting her know what I was going to do. Now she claims that it was wrong for me to have her rooster re-home without her permission and the next time she will call the law. Our conversation is all documented in a neighborhood forum on FB where everyone could see her conversations with me and other people concerning this rooster. I've never complained about how her rooster and her best friends hens are destroying my flower beds, scratched down to the roots of my bushes, but if she calls the law on me for her Rooster then all hell will break lose from this mild, polite and patient neighbor.

You've told the lady to keep her chickens out of your yard. Don't argue back and forth with her.
Next time a chicken shows up in your yard get rid of it.
Don't explain anything to her anymore.
Things posted online can be edited or deleted...so it's not 'proof' of anything.

Let her call the cops and tell on herself for not keeping her animals in her own yard.

Welcome to BYC.

Hi, Welcome to BYC! as Robert frost once said " Good fences make good neighbors" I don't think he meant it the way it sounds. He was actually referring to his rock fence that he would get together each Spring with his neighbor and fix the rocks back up on the property line, that hunters had knocked down hunting rabbits. But I like it because it makes sense both ways. Thanks for joining. :highfive:

Wow, this made me annoyed. I have small kids and if I had a neighbors rooster come on my property and go after my kids I would eat it.
Welcome to Byc! Sorry you had to deal with that. Hopefully your neighbor will settle down

Welcome to BYC. So glad to meet you!
