(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? - yes and about 4-5 weeks ago. Start of March 2022

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? - 6. supposed to be 3 Cinnamon Queens and 3 Starlight Green Eggers and all pullets, but I have one extra large primarily white dominant one with a large red comb

(3) What breeds do you have? - above

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? - someday getting those eggs. I like to care for them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? - growing vegetables, playing guitar (sing, drums, etc..), boat on the lake

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. - a blended couple. 4 of mine and 3 of hers but all out of house now. We have 2 dogs and 2-3 cats if the 3rd comes around. All outside but have a closed shed for them to eat/drink and sleep in. Lots of freedom for them with 10 acres back here. Chickens have a good size coop and 10x10 run for the 6. We are too close to hawks, eagles, owls, coyotes, skunks, possums, wildcats, etc.... for free range

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D. Just found it and liked all the postings and help with sexing. I think I eded up with a cinnamon queen rooster

I'll post a picture later. I guess I need to build a separate container or get rid of him. Quite the spoiler for egg laying.
No he's not! He won't lay eggs, yes but males add value and character to a flock. Some people can't work with the testier ones and some are outright human aggressive and should be removed. I've had lots and lots of boys come and go through my flock but currently have the senior rooster who was from the very first hatch and an up and coming cockerel hatched out under a broody hen who is doing very well and is welcome to stay as long as the girls remain unstressed.

I read that as long as we gather daily and egg is away from brooding then should be fine to just eat up normal. Guess he stays and gets a new name though. Was Helen Bertha after my mean grandmother. Now the chicken politics are making more sense.
