NEOMYCIN Alternitives?

I have a chicken that has yellow/greenish diarrhea and was told to use Neomycin to treat it. I was curious if there is anything a little more natural out there. You know less side effects. This stuff sounds pretty potent.

please give more detailed description of all symptoms..
is the bird eating?
any drainage from eyes, or beak?
describe the droppings..color and consistency.

how many chickens do you have?

what ALL do you feed?
are they kept in a coop? pen? free range? what bedding do you use?

this hen is sick and needs aggressive treatment.
but Neomycin wouldn't be my choice.

that is a heavy duty antibiotic- for serious bacterial infections (E.coli), not labeled for laying chickens. mostly used in high intensity farming- turkeys and meat chicken, unlikely this is needed for a backyard chicken, who recommended using this? Lots of reasons for a chicken to have diarrhea, not necessarily bacterial

When I got her I knew she was too young to be laying. But, recently her comb has turned red and she has gotten more vocal. she eats fine. no drainage. her droppings range from yellow/greeninsh to black, but always watery. We have two hens. They are fed laying crumbles, scratch, and occaisional scraps. they have been kept in a coop with a run attatched for the last two months but where free range before that. But, she had these same symptoms when she was free range. I don't think it is critical because she has been this way since we got her in September.
