Nervous 1st timer

I have been so excited about starting my first attempt at a hatch. I put the eggs into the incubator last night and then did not sleep a single wink. I have been reading and preparing for weeks, but when it came time to start my little brood, I got all freaked out. I hope this anxiety doesn't last 21 days!

Oh it does last 21 days. The worst is the last couple days, then you really won't sleep because you will be checking every 5 minutes for pips, lol.
But it is so fun and I am sure you will do fine!

With is my 20th hatch and i am still like that lol

Yeah, it lasts and it really does get worst after lockdown, which is where I'm at on my first hatch. Tomorrow is hatch day and I know I won't get any sleep.

Just relax and try to stay one step ahead. Get everything ready its like having a baby. Get the brooder ready make sure your heat source is working properly. Get the water-ers ready & have some rocks ready to put in the water-er so they won't drown. Get the feed because they will be hungry from jack hammering out of the egg. Get some sleep now because when they hatch you will be checking on them every 10 seconds.

I'm on my first hatch too! I am CONSTANTLY checking on the thermometer, fixing the temp if it's 100.2 instead of 99.7-100

and I need to really sit on my hands. Apparently some part of me believes that if I candle them and don't see anything yet (on the second day mind you) and then candle them again 5 mins later then there must be something. But I got SO excited because today I saw veins in the lightest eggs! Isn't it great?

As I've said before, the term "lockdown" should apply to you also, because it is nerve racking as heck and whatever you're feeling now, then just X by 10!!!!!

I have checked the temp and humidity so many times today, and never did get the nap that was supposed to make up for no sleep last night. I was hoping you all would tell me that I would soon relax and all would be peachy until hatch day. I guess it might be time to get a prescription for Xanax

For my first year of hatching, my poor husband saw more of my backside than he did of the rest of me. I was always bent over the incubator window. I still get excited when it is hatch time, but I only occasionally glance in the hatcher now. Sometimes if I have time, I will watch a chick hatch from the moment I notice the pip, till it pops out. It is always a miracle, and each chick is amazing.
