nest box cleaned out.... eggs missing... any ideas?

There were two eggs in the nest box this morning. I decided to leave them there and see if anymore got laid today. I came back this afternoon and the whole box is cleared out. There isn't even any straw in there.....

What could it be?

No damage to run/coop? I would suspect egg-eating bird. If so, then should be remnants of shells lying about. Doubt they would eat entire shell too. POssums and skunks are egg lovers too. Skunks will usually leave some stink even tho they do not spray.

Other alternative is worse, being a two-legged pred.

Its just so ODD> My hubby swears its the cats but there are NO bits of shell any where. I checked the whole coop and the run. odd. ALl the birds where there. And we keep the house open. It just doesn't make sense that person would take 2 eggs and nothing else.

I guess I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.
