Nest box leaks any ideas how to fix it?

Do you know if the type of plastic of a pond liner is any different than sheet plastic or thick trash bags?

 

The pond liner we used from our local garden store is MUCH thicker than a trash bag plastic. It is a rubber - very similar to an inner tube.

Duct tape isn't waterproof and doesn't stand up to UV light or cold winter air. I'm looking for a longer-term solution

Goodness gracious! I was lucky to find one that has big rolls they sell by the linear foot. So the piece I got cost about $6.

If you look in your hardware store they should sell rolls of plastic flashing. That's what I used and so far worked great didn't even leak when we got 200mm rain in two days

That would be more reasonable!!

I would think pond liner is much sturdier. Think trash bags I think would eventually tear. Probably the same as that other plastic but its stronger than trash bags.

Simply cover the whole end with vinyl flooring and leave an apron to divert the water off the lid.

Lay the flooring apron on the lid not nailed this will allow the flooring to slide up along the lid while being opened.

Leave a distance of about 3" from the top of your lid to the first nail in the side wall to hold the flooring in place. This distance from the heart of the hinge will provide needed flexibility and mobility when the lid is opened and closed. Drape the flooring over your hinges

Or use more of your roofing to cover the end. For your first course instead of shingles use a strip of vinyl flooring to lay on the lid and up the wall.

An air mattress would also serve the purpose..
