The hens keep pulling the straw out of the boxes. The boxes are 10 inches off the ground with a 1 1/2" ledger board and a slanted roof over top. Can I use another material or what? PLEASE HELP!!!

Thank you
Ron

I put soft wood shavings in mine. They seem to like it

I use hay. It's not the same stiff material as straw and they like to make wonderful nests just like robins.

I tried aspen--the pine smells better. Also, my experience has been that shavings compost better than hay.

I saw someone on here used that grass rug that you put on your deck or porch. Awesome idea and easy to clean. I'm going to do the same when the new coop is done.
