so, i'm already building a NEW, IMPROVED coop to replace my brand new, 6 month 0ld tractor.... i have 4 standard hens. if i put only one next box in the new coop, what happens when one goes broody? should i put two just in case?

IMO if one of your breeds tends toward broodiness, I'd go for two. But if they are breeds that are not known for going broody, I probably wouldn't bother. If a miracle happens, then you could always stick her in a small covered litter box in the coop??? Now if you feel you have plenty of room in your coop, I would just go for two, but if pressed for space, just one.
