Nest box size

Is a 12x12 cube shelving unit ok to use for nesting boxes ? At least for a little while? We were going to nail a piece of wood across the bottom (it's just sitting there for pic) then were boarding the side behind it up since the other side and front are all hardware cloth for circulation. I live in Hawaii where temps are always mild so I'm not worried about them getting to cold .

Should work just fine. My girls use plastic bins from Walmart. They're not picky.

Here's a pic of the whole coop. They will free range during the day. Where the door opens on left side wall is where we will board it up and put nesting boxes.

Haha good. I was worried they might be too small. We can always upgrade later. Also we're getting chicks so they'll be in the brooder for a long while first

Hoow big are your bins? Is 10x15x7 - an 11 litre size big enough? Thanks!
