My husband finished the girls chalet and put up the nest box, 22" off the floor. We have 5 RIR pullets, 9 wks old. Last night they were all sleeping in the boxs. They have been sleeping on their roosts previously. Will they use the nest boxs for laying eggs when they are hens?

You need to block off the nesting boxes until they're closer to laying age...around 4 months. Welcome to BYC!

you block off the laying boxes so they won't use them to roost or sleep in.... they learn roosts are for roosting and the laying boxes are to lay the eggs in.
