Nest Boxes on door

The door is actually a regular metal-over-wood regular house door. So drilling through and using big fender washers and such would be strong enough to hold my plastic nest boxes, I would hope.

Otherwise, I'm thinking about drilling 6" holes in the wall behind each nest, so as to be able to remove eggs without going inside the coop. I thought about lining the holes with PVC to prevent slivers, etc. when reaching through. The plastic nest boxes have rear access when hung on the wall (or door).

ETA: weight is not an issue here.

It would be good to post come pics of your coop and the door and nests.

My husband and I decided to finally start our chicken house/garden shed. Unfortunately, he died in January, so I am going to try and find someone to help me finish this. The inside is finished with painted OSB and peg board (inside the garden area only). I am currently trying to get my neighbor, who has a workshop, to make some louvers for the windows, so the roost does not have direct wind blowing in on the chickens. I will post more pics as I go along....slow now, and with a heavier heart.

My sympathy for your loss.
