Nest Boxes

What Iam saying its NOT hens that do these funny , silly little dances , its roosters that do that . duh

I went to the ReStore near me (the Habitat for Humanity building recycle store) and bought a 4 door cabinet for over a refrigerator. I took 2 doors off but left 2 on. I'm hoping my (barred rock) girls like their spacious nesting cabinets. Cost $20 instead of almost $100 that DH wanted to spend on new ones. Goodwill or other thrift sore might have something that will work for you.

Aha, well what I meant by funny dance was the funny egg dance described by many lol, less like a dance more like getting herself ready, but I call it a dance.

This is made out of scrap wood and a few tools. They can even be an old tire with hay in it. Chickens are not fussy as long as you see what they need, its available and safe.
I get a chuckle out of these 2 nests, no one likes the left side, only the Right and they will double up!!!
Good luck and hope you get eggs really soon!!!

Haha, I love it! ... It's so cute! I found some 2x4s hanging around, and decided to make a frame for them, its just like one long box with dividers for 4 nest boxes (i'll double up 4 more when we order more chicks in the spring), and i'm dividing, and siding with some left over plywood we have hanging around from the brooder box (cause i'm making a smaller one when we order chicks in the spring!), and some OSB from sheathing the coop.

I love your nest boxes, I've started mine now and am doing something similar, though I've got 4 boxes at the moment, adding more in the spring.
