Nest Boxes

When do you put something in their nest boxes? What do you put in their nest boxes?

I started when they started growing their combs and opened up the nest boxes with fake eggs for when they started. You can really put any kind of bedding in there. I have sand in mine as I find that if someone gets lice or mites pine shavings hold them in. I also really like the nest pads they sell. Every now and then a little sand gets stuck on the egg but when the bloom dries the sand is easy to brush off and I don't get dirty eggs.
