Nest / First Lay question....

I have one Amber Dekalb and 2 Black Stars.

All are about 5 months old.... so any day now should have first eggs..

Question is...

Today One of them has built a nest in the nest box!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this a sign that they are getting ready to lay? Never was a nest before and they have been in the coop about a month...

Or should I not get excited???

Yup, she's "practicing". And with sex links at that age, you should have eggs VERY soon.

I remember when I got my first egg not long ago...might as well have been a big gold nugget laying in the nest box! I was SO excited and called all my friends and family to make the big announcement. It really is a big deal and something you work towards for so long. Congrats!
