I have two Emdens I thought were a pair but today the one I was sure was the gander built a nest. I can't find much info on whether that is normal for the gander. He has also recently started doing the submissive squat that the other has been doing for a while. I don't really know that it is the submissive squat or just the "pet me" squat, but it is very similar to what the chickens do.
I'm pretty sure he's a gander based on the aggression and trying to mate everything except the goose. I guess I'll know if I start to get eggs from one or both. Just wondering if anyone else has seen a gander with these behaviors.

usually only the females squat so you should wait to see if you get eggs... they are known for building nests for their mates as well so im not quite sure what to think

Well usually the girls do do the “come hither” squat, but ganders sometimes also like to build nests and sometimes sit on eggs for a few minutes, girls can sometimes be very bossy and aggressive too so welcome to the often confusing world of goose gender norms!

Seriously I’d lean to it being a girl because of the squat but you never know.
