I have read alot of posts about nesting boxes and I too was struggling with what to you for I cannot hammer a nail straight so I am very contructionally challenged. But I do do alot of gardening and frequent the local nursaries. I started putting up plastic pots. For those who garden either #10 or #15 size pots. I believe that is equivelent to a 10 and 15 gallon pot. I use the rim of the pot to secure to the wall with a couple of drywall screws, cut about half of the bottom out to provide the enclosed space the girls usually require. We have our own straw and I fill it up with that. Easy to clean and durable. Definately can hold their weight and only problem I have is they all favor seem to favor one or two pots and I get broken eggs. I will try to post some pic. but I am not sure how or I will start a page. I hope this will help someone.

Big pots sounds like a great idea.

Maybe try putting in shavings instead of staw and the extra cushion would help prevent the eggs from getting broken.

Can't wait to see pics of your pots.

Wood or paper shavings under the straw or replace the straw with the shavings? Since we have the straw I have not ever used shavings.
