Nesting box liners question

Interesting concept. I have not, I use hay and change it weekly, right now I have 2 pullets that insist on sleeping and pooping all over in the nest boxes. I am working on a plant to block them. I think it would be too much work IMO to keep clean. Will follow to see how it goes.

Super quick nest padding/liners: take empty feed bags and fold them to fit the floor of the nest box. Easy and free padding that won't get scratched out and can be tossed if they get dirty.

Hi everyone,
I have a question..Has anyone ever made quilted washable liners for your nesting boxes?

I haven't, and I wouldn't. I guess if I ever had a human baby, I'd never use a cloth diaper, because it's gross to wash them. I'd use disposable diapers. I feel the same way about chicken poop on a liner. I'd rather get something disposable, or something that I could at least easily hose off clean without the padding getting soaked. I've heard of people using Astroturf for nest liners. Thick cardboard will work. Or the feedbags, as someone else suggested. Something that the poop won't soak into.

But, if you don't mind washing the chicken poop out, then a quilted liner will work. There are plenty of parents out there still using cloth diapers and not minding the hassle of washing them.
