Nesting Box question?

Hello all, I'm in the final days of finishing my coop. I have a question on the nesting boxes, do I need to have dividers between the nesting boxes or can they be open.

I have two closed and one larger one that is open. My girls prefer the divided ones, the open one MIGHT have one or two eggs in it each day but the two divided ones have all the others. I would go with the divided ones myself.

I use milk crates on there sides, so mine are divided. Some chickens like a community nest, some don't

Looks like it's a good idea to divide the hens while they are laying.
