Nesting Box Question!!!!

Does every chicken need there own nesting box?. like if you have 6 chickens you need 6 nesting boxes?

No. Generally, If you provide 1 nesting box per 8 hens, they will be fine. I do recommend at least 2 nesting boxes. That gives them a choice. If you put in a lot of nesting boxes, some do not get used.

No, they don't each need their own nest box. I believe the ratio is 1 nest per 5 or 6 chickens, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I have two 5 gal buckets that I use for 8 layers. so far, 6 of them are laying & 99% of the time all the eggs are in the same nest...

oh cause im getting 3 silkie hens so i was wondering if i should have 1 2 or 3

i would say 1 or 2 nest boxes if your only going to have 3, but I just ordered 6 chicks and made my coop about 2x as big as they need. Just in case i get more chickens in the future. It has 4 nest boxes.

I say do a couple extra as some day you will likely have more birds
