nesting box/roost help needed

we are building a coop 4x8 and about 3.5 feet high. one all of it going to be boxed in but were there is a wire door at one end of the 8 foot part. can i put the nesting boxs on the ground? we are going to put roosts on one end. not sure if we could put them closer to the open side or not? also are planing on using cat litter boxs for nest books. can the nesting boxs go on the ground? we are going to use the deep liter for the floor then dirt would be under that. we just are not sure how to set up the inside of the coop. we do have vents on each end for the summer to help cool it down some. any ideas would be great. i never thought i would put this much thinking into a chicken coop.

Have you checked here? Alot of coops your size should give you some ideas.
