Hello I was hoping for some opinions.... I took our old cube organizer and upcycled it to nesting boxes. The back have a door we plant to put this on the interior wall of the coop so on the days I'm lazy and don't want to go in the chicken side, I can just pop the door open and collect the eggs. I've attached the pictures of what I did and a sample of what I plan to do in away.

Nice photos and good idea. Unfortunately, we need to know the dimensions of the openings. Hens require adequate head room to stand up straight during the final stage of laying an egg where gravity assists them in laying it. A minimum of thirteen to fifteen inches for the height is necessary. It should be roomy enough to turn around in while titivating the nesting material

They also require a ledge or perch to hop onto as they are not like wild birds soaring into a bird house nailed to a tree.

If you can satisfy those basic requirements, the shelf could work.
