We have 9 golden comets (19 weeks) & 2 barred rock (20 weeks). One of the barred rocks is the only one laying eggs, she has laid approximately 10 and we only were able to use 2, the others were broken. I think I found out why, she is not going to the nesting box even though I had "seeded it" with a fake egg, put shavings in it. I saw her the other day on a high roosting post and a warm broken egg was below her. Yesterday in preparation for today I put a nesting box below the perch but also put tin foil crumbled and secured to the post so hopefully she won't go on it. So my problem is two fold: why are the others laying & if the foil doesn't work how else can I get her to the nesting box or even the floor of the "loft" so we can get unbroken eggs?

Don't move the nests around. Move the hen into the nest when you see her hunting for a place to lay.
Yes move the hen. I noted that my two Silkies were wanting to lay at the same time, one was already in their preferred nest box, so I plunked the one not yet in the nest box into the other nest box. She got the point and laid her egg there!
