Nesting boxes/Plastic Easter Eggs?

Hi everyone. My husband and I just started raising chickens. They are now 5 weeks old and spend their first night in the coop last night. I know it will still be awhile before they start laying eggs but how soon do I need to put in fake eggs in their nesting boxes for them to realize that is where they need to lay their eggs. Also what is best to use? The ceramic eggs are a little exensive and we are trying to do this on a low budget. Has anyone ever used plastic easter eggs? Any insight is really appreciated! We are still trying to figure this all out but really enjoying it as we go!

I would put the fake eggs in when the chickens are about 20 weeks old. I used the ceramic eggs and they worked great for me (they were very cheap)! http://shop.crackerbarrel.com/Brown...archPage=1&searchRank=salesrank&searchSize=12

I just noticed that I never updated this. Used the plastic eggs and the chickens started laying the boxes no problems. Have only had 1 or 2 oops eggs.
