Nesting boxes questions and pics

I have a 4'x 8' coop and 16'x16' run. The nesting boxes are 34.5 inches wide and the clearance between the top slanted piece of wood and the bottom plywood is 6.5 inches. Should I leave it at that or run a 2x4 along the front instead of the plywood I already have there and also put in another roost at that same level but the same direction as the upper one?
