Was wondering if someone could give me some dimensions for 5 nesting boxes, we are taking a 8x10 shed and converting it into a coop for me, but looking for some ideas/dimnesions for the nesting boxes....Thanks!

Thought I'd share picture of the nesting boxes I built, which I also installed into a converted shed. Same dimensions as mentioned in post above.

thanks for the pictures....Any other suggestions about converting a shed?? Can I keep the food and water in the coop with a converted shed so the food doesn't get soaked when it rains?

I use 5 gallon buckets, easy to clean and if ya have a broody you can move her to a sitting area.
Here are some of my broodies i moved bucket and all to the sitting area.

I personally keep both food and water in my coop. I built a awning over the food dispenser so they can't poop into it. I used a baby pig feeder and hung it on the wall. I have a light on a timer to wake them up early, and give them time to get settled in the evening. Also have a automatic door opener.

I guess the only thing I still need to do is add a few vents for the summer months. Cross venelation is pretty important.

Wow, thanks for the tips....a baby pig feeder is a GREAT idea, too bad I just bought a new chicken feeder, LOL..The shed has "vents" all the way around at the top, but should I have my hubby cut out some other vent areas? Where did ya get the automatic door opener?
