hello newbie here can anyone tell me how to make and install nesting boxes to outside of coop with access from inside coop? pics would be nice also anyinfo about roost how high? far apart? thank you very much

Well you want the boxes to be on the outside, but accesible from the inside?
Well I would suggest just grabbed milk cartons, nail them so that they are stuck to the coop but are sticking out, and just throw a tarp or something over top for weather protection. You could also build boxes and add them to the coop.

The roost needs to be higher then the nest boxes, and have enough room from them so that the chickens can move, eat, drink, and jump on the roost. So, depending on how long the chickens will be in the coop, anywhere from 3' to 5' (5' is a bit much though, LOL)

If you want to make nest boxes accessable from the outside (to gather the eggs?) the easiest thing to do is to go to the coops part of this forum and look at all the pictures people have posted of their coops in progress, that will show you how to do it. Basically what you are going to have to do is to decide how many nests you want, figure out the size of each, and then cut a hole in the outside of your coop to enable you to frame and make (this is where the pictures in the coop section are very helpful) the nests. How many nests depends on how many hens you have and how big depends on if they're bantams or standard.
