any thoughts, suggestions?

eta: They have a keyhole shape in the back and are mounted by a screw that is in at an angle so that I may lift up and off to clean, there is also a 2 by 4 behind them keeping them at a slight angle so that they won't droop and have any eggs fall out etc..

We made ours from 5 gallon buckets too. I will post a pic tommorow. We cut an arc in the side of the bucket and then cut the lid so it was about 3 inches tall and attach a 1*2 to it so they had a place to land when they flew up to them. That is really confusing huh?? I will post pics. We got our plan from Backyard Poultry magazine.

Well done

I love the orange buckets.

The only thing I might suggest is a board across the front. When I made my nesting buckets the hens kept rolling the eggs out so I put a board across and everything stayed in place.

I braved the cold to go out and take these pics for you. Just kidding. I had to check on the troops.

The first two pics are of the only two nests I have found eggs in. I need to move the others I guess.

Sorry the last pic is sideways.

I love what you did with the bucket and lids, I didn't buy lids but I am definitely considering changing mine@ That looks great! What did you cut the bucket with?

Thanks! ~Lara

I have white buckets my DH made a plywood half circle piece and screwed it just inside the bucket to stop the hay from coming out and we put a board across the top cause mine our closer together and they would try to roost on top of them and kept getting stuck in between
I would take a pic but I cant get that to work the last 3 days
