I have a female Pekin Nesting. Our ducks are free range as in no fence but on a pond that's almost half an acre. They have a shed that they only go into for food. My question is when the baby ducks hatch will they be fine eating the adult layer feed? Also I have not seen the duck get off the nest in over a week now is that normal?

When the Duck doesn’t get off the nest for a while it is broody usually. The chicks should be fine but the mamma duck can it starter or grower that is usually best.

I raised my little ones on layer pellets and I know of other people who do the same. I don't think it's a very recommended thing to do and duck specific baby feed is the best thing for them to be eating. But just so you can see here's my beautiful welshie trio, they were raised on layer pellets and they turned out beautiful!

Edit: I did notice that sometimes they might have a little trouble swallowing so you might consider crushing up the pellets and putting them in a separate dish to keep them from choking and prevent blockage.
