Nesting Rooster

Can anyone tell me why my rooster gets in the nest boxes? He gets in and settles in for a few minutes then gets out. The girls will gather around and talk about it, then he comes out.
All but 1 of the girls have started laying although several are on winter break.
So whats the deal? My old Rooster didn't do this, at least not that I saw.

I used to have a rooster that liked to poke around in the nest boxes. I always figured he was making sure they were suitable for his girls to lay in.

He is a good rooster and not human aggressive like my last rooster. So now I have 1 more thing to love about him. The columbian wyandotte in the 1st pic is the only 1 not laying yet. Shes 39 weeks now. I guess this was for her benefit.
