So last year we bought 2 ducks. This year we let our female hatch her own babies. My husband built another coupe along side the older ones (not connecting ). The problem is it’s smaller and we kept 4 of the babies. So the babies would do better in the bigger coupe and the 2 adults would fit better in the smaller. Do you think my adult female would adjust and keep laying her eggs in the coupe or would she move her nesting. Right now she lays them in her coupe so we don’t have search for them.

So what you’re saying is you’re separating the mother duck from her babies ? Why can’t yous keep them all in the same coop ?

If you put a fake egg in the nest she should keep laying there but I don’t understand why you can’t have them all together....

When they were a week old we brought the babies in our garage in brooder. We were giving some away and wanted them to get use to people . We didn’t plan on keeping 4 but fell in love . So in reading posts they say you have to reintroduce them and our male isn’t nice to them. He hasn’t been nice since they were born. Our drake and female have always been inseparable. I guess I didn’t want him alone in his coupe. We are new to this. The adults we got last year were our first ducks.
