What do your peahens' nesting areas look like? My girls are not old enough to lay until next year, but out of curiosity, what do you provide for your girls' nests? Pics would be nice, if you can. :)
Thanks!

Well we made some nice wooden nest boxes a foot or a little higher off the ground for ours, but they don't use them at all. They would rather nest under a bush or plant in their pen. For a nest mine just scratch out a shallow depression in the ground and lay the eggs there. I would always put some food and water close to the peahen so that she didn't have to go far to get it. I especially would make sure I would give her treats because they don't like leaving the nest when I am out there so I try to make sure the nesting ones get food too and it isn't all gobbled up by the birds not on a nest.

Here is my other peahen on a nest. She was nesting under a small shade structure made of palm fronds.

Here are just some cute peahens with their peachicks photos for ya...

beautiful.. Minfox what color is the second hen pictured? Is she gaining more dark color on her back as she ages?

The second peahen is an India blue black shoulder. Her name is Ice. She was my first peahen and when I first got her she barely had color on her neck but on the back of her neck she has a long patch of green neck feathers and I do think that as she has gotten older her lower back has gotten more of that blackish grey color. I can't say her exact age because I got her from a zoo that closed down so she was just a free range bird there.
