Netting for over a large run

Sorry for the slow reply. Somewhere else on BYC, the netting from 3t Products was recommended. Their 2" Heavy Duty was what I purchased. They have a good online store and I'm definitely liking my purchase. Again, I keep turkey IN- - nothing is coming in overhead for these fatties. I totally agree with the need to electrify the perimeter. Just haven't gotten that far this spring.

Mr Pink, that's looking mighty fine! Well done. Love how secure and high the netting above looks.

We got 2 sides of fence up and all the posts in and secured. My hands are a bit tired from all the wire cutting.

Also got some chicken wire under the bottom of the netting to avoid anyone digging under.

Also just ordered the 3T netting on eBay. Thanks everyone for the advice on that. Looked around and then gave eBay a go...ordered.

Here's some photos from today. I promise I was helping too not just taking photographs!

Our main reason for the chickens is the compost from a deep litter run ... the base boards are 2 x 12 ( I dug out the entire run area 12 in down ) and all the litter in the run now is mulched leaves filled up to grade . I have a leaf collector on my big mower and have a large leaf composting area not far from the coop/run ANYWAY that is the reason for keeping my netting high #1 so I can walk around without bending over in the run and #2 my double gate is over 8 ' wide so I can get my Ranger or other equipment in the run to remove or add litter as needed .

No offence to the people who do but to me a run that has been relegated to a wasteland of bare dirt is IMHO a waste of what could be a valuable resource ...if you add the carbon source the chickens will do the rest and make compost that is second to none !

This is a very good article/video of a similar process only mobile http://permaculturenews.org/2015/02/27/the-chicken-run-on-steroids/

@Mr Pink That looks great! I also do deep litter/comparing in my run and love it and I think the chickens appreciate it too. This time of year I hardly have anything to put in it, unfortunately. I'm thinking of getting a bale of grass hay.

Finished up with covering my run today ...As I stated in a earlier post I used deer fence . This stuff is pretty tough , short of a very determined eagle I'm pretty sure I'm safe from everything else in the air
Nice framing base, will give you options down the road.
