Hi all!! :pop
I have a question about coop design.
this is my night coop: (now i have putted a roost, too)

You can see that i have putted a mesh. This is because with this chickens sit on the roost at night, poop and the poop goes under the mesh (in a plastic container). It's a sort of permanent litter.

But there is a problem. The 1cm mesh don't allowed all the poop to go under. I'm wondering what is the perfect size of the netting?
I'm wondering if a too large mesh can be a problem for their feet (their leg could remain stuck in that)...

Another question: sometimes i have to close my chickens in the coop before of the sky gets dark and they don't want to go to sleep, so i have sometimes to put a bit of food to encourage them. there are some mices. i putted a mousetrap in the coop. I'm wondering if the noise of the mousetrap in the night silence can terrify them.

THANK YOU! :)

Needs to be as big as the poops, which can rather be large after they get old enough to lay.

Yes, could definitely be a problem.
Is the whole floor covered with mesh or just under the roost?

The noise might startle them, bigger problem is putting the trap where a chicken might get snapped.

Traps are in a place that chicken can't be reached by chickens..
And they're traps for live mices, i don't want to kill them

Yes, the whole floor. Because poops totally eroded my previous my sheet-metal floor (i had an other coop), and i thought it was the best option..
I don't know if it could be possible to put other perches on the whole floor...

do you think this could be good?

i don't know if i can find the right misure...

Thank you!

I think you're overcomplicating it... a simple wood floor would help keep the mice out. You could either use poop boards to catch the poop, or you could simply clean out the floor just under the roosts each morning. I know some folks have tried doing mesh floors to let poop drop through, but in order to have gaps big enough to allow it all to fall through, they're big enough to allow mice and rats to freely get in as well.

Thank you @rosemarythyme
Today i'll do some other photos of the coop..
The coop has a wood floor, and 20cm above the wood floor there is the mesh.
Mices don't arrive in the coop because of the mesh, but because of some slots in the wood (i don't know why but rain deformed the wood and created this slots).
The wood floor isn't very suitable for me to clean every morning, cause i go to school and very often the coop is opened by my mum, and she's frequently in a hurry..
Other pictures soon :)

Yeah I can see some gaps in the wood, they really need to be closed up somehow. The mice are a problem as they eat feed and carry parasites and diseases.

If you can't clean in the morning, then clean in the afternoon or evening. Cleaning is unfortunately a regular chore when you're keeping animals. You can simplify to some degree, but it still needs to get done.
