I need to get started on building some new runs as i have more peacocks now. The runs that we build this year we use chicken wire and i would like to use some type netting because i think it might be easier to put on, so would you please tell me what type u use and where u bought it from.I am in South Carolina and we have Lowe's Home Depo, TS and what size holes it has. Thanks so much. I am sorry the netting is for the top of my runs, we have wire on top of ours now but it is just so hard to get it up and on the top and thought netting would be easier. thanks.

I really don't know, but isn't the netting only used on the top? I would really like to know because I am putting together a new pen and would really like to know this also.

Yep the netting is used for the top of the pen.

Keep an eye on the chicken wire topped pen. Chicken wire can rust and become weak. This guy I call "Bird man" uses chicken wire for the tops of his pens. He has to add more chicken wire every now and then because the chicken wire rusts and gets weak and when that happens raccoons and other critters can get in or the birds can get out.

Good netting will last a long time, but can be easily chewed through by predators. (which of course you can always have a hot wire around your pen to prevent predators). I bought my netting off of either Amazon or eBay. It is tough but the problem I get is it rubs against the posts and bunny clips and then it breaks around those areas so my suggestion is to put something protective around posts. For the top of the roosts I put a plastic plant container on top of them to keep the netting from rubbing and catching on the wood. If I were to go back in time to when I was making the pen I would get different netting...

Good quote I have kept from DM Farms:
Quote: So toprite is a good company to get netting from.
Here is where you can get Toprite netting: http://cutlersupply.com/zen_new51/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=9
Here is another place you can get netting from: http://www.pacificnettingproducts.com/game-bird-netting.html - I don't know about Toprite but this company will make your order of netting just the right size that you want.

My netting is maybe 2in. X 2in. squares. I tried to find a better photo of the netting but as you can see it is thin and not very noticeable but it is strong and every now and then I grab it to see if it is still tough and it is. I have had a peafowl get out and land onto the netting and not break it flopping around and stuff on top of the netting.

Oh edited to add a link to a very good video I found on youtube showing an easy way of putting up a lot of bird netting. It is a method used by a large scale pheasant breeder. When I get to working on my new pen again I am going to try this method for getting the netting up.

I second all MinxFox says. I ordered netting from Cutler Supply 3 weeks ago and I swear I think the nylon is stronger than the metal chicken wire. I love my netting and you will too. Order it on-line and it will be delivered to your door within the week.

I must have miss something.I am not putting netting on the side. The queation was what kind of netting do you all put on top of your run?

Toprite on top.
