I have a young hen/ pullet that went broody on me. I tried many suggestions to "break" her but they only succeeded in making her crazy. I finally put her in our mildly heated tack room where we are growing out some fall chicks. I put three easter-egger eggs under her. They weren't due until tomorrow or the next day. Tonight after I got home from work, I went to care for her and the older chicks.
When I entered the room she was singing the softest ,most beautiful sounds I have heard in a long time... then I saw this tee-tiny pale yellow head peak out of one of her wings. After several moments another brown one poked it's head out from under her chest. Eventually the two of them came out and I got this shot of them learning how to eat from Mama. it is indescribable the joy new life brings to your heart. :) :) :)
