Today, we left our chickens loose while we went to vote. Normally we don’t leave them loose while we’re gone but we didn’t expect to be gone that long. Long story short it was time to shut the chickens up when I got home. I go to shut the coop when I realize I’m missing 6 out of 13 chickens. So I’m running all over about 3 acres trying to find them (or evidence of them
). I run most of it to find they have somehow locked themselves in the old garden the fence is only 3.5 feet. But they were convinced they were trapped. I go and start throwing chickens over the fence. Well one wasn’t waiting on me and managed to fly about 15 into the air over the garden fence and into our dogs fence. Our foster puppy had a big old time chasing the hen and then I had to go rescue her AGAIN. All in the life of a chicken owner I suppose.
