I have been battling bumble foot in one chicken which seems like forever! I first tried to get it out myself... I soaked, squeezed, picked, and cut parts of it out. I have packed Prid in there to draw out the infection and finally brought her into the vet. $296 dollars later, I’m still dealing with it. It’s been going on for at least three to four weeks of bringing her in, soaking, cleaning, and continuously getting more and more out. She had a pretty big hole in the bottom of her foot. She had a lot of swelling which has almost gone away but I know there is still more in there. I have gotten the core out and almost like a casing looking thing.. it looked like it was all out and then today I did the same routine of soak, wash, squeeze and more infection keeps coming out. I do this until it looks empty.. wrap her up and boom it’s like the movie Groundhogs Day.. any advice to get rid of this without another vet bill?!? The first time was a waste of time and money.. they didn’t get it out. Any advice is welcomed!!

I have a rooster that has had repeated bouts with bumblefoot. Previous time it took over a year for his feet to heal. This time I used sugardine (this was my last option after doing everything else) and got it healed up in about 3 1/2 months. Post #8 in the same thread has a video on sugardine.
I clean out the lesion as well as possible then pack the hole with plain white sugar. Put one or two drops of betadine on it, it will wick in, it doesn't take much. Then I cover with a duoderm bandage cut to size (these stick, help keep it moist and keep it very clean) and then wrap with co-wrap. I repeated daily at first, then went to every other day, then every third day as it got better. I did have to clean it out a couple more times but it was generating a lot less pus pretty quickly. The swelling went down gradually and it slowly healed up from the inside out.
Sugardine is used a lot by farriers for hoof issues in horses.
You can get duoderm bandages on amazon, these are the ones I use. Comes in a box of 5 which you can cut to size and they will go a long way. They have a plastic film on one side you peel off and that side goes on the wound. : https://www.amazon.com/DUODERM-CGF-...id=1604879874&sprefix=Duoderm+,aps,353&sr=8-5
Here is another article on using sugardine (kind of amusing) and why it works:

This is very interesting! This is going to be my next thing I’m going to try! I just have to get the duoderm. Thank you!!
