I have only been a member a little while and only had chickens slightly longer. I set my first batch of eggs in a borrowed incubator and let's just say nothing has went right. Temp drops, temp spikes and on day 19 the incubator quit. Today is day 24 and one hatched this morning on a heat pad I put in there when it quit. 1 more is zipping. They are stronger than we give them credit for.

Wow! That's neat to hear. I hope that 2nd one makes it also.

I had 1 hatch against the odds too. My broody kept breaking all her eggs and at day 21 broke 1 more that had a fullgrown chick in it, so I removed the last egg - it was peeping. I brought it inside and put a light bulb over it for a few hours. I didn't own an incubator -- Eventually, I had the bright idea to put it in my bathroom with the room humidifer going (no idea as to what the humidity level was in there), and the little chick made it out! She was inside my house under a light bulb with unknown humidty for 8-10 hours before she finally pipped and the hatched on her own within the next hour.

I agree - don't give up till it's over!

Awesome! Congrats!

That's great! And I agree completely! I had 10 bantam eggs that made it to lock down and only 2 hatched so I was really sceptical weather my 5 quail I put in with them would hatch and all 5 hatched. I wasn't seeing any movement or hearing any peeps and then woke up this morning to 5 little quail peeping around in the bator.
