....said the grandmother to her granddaughter at the park as the young girl picked my ducks up out of the basket and played with them. she was shocked that i was going to toss them into the lake to swim...wouldn't they fly away?

Nope.... they are too tame! glad she got to enjoy them for a bit.

were you tossing them into the lake & then re-collecting them when they were done playing?

I had a duck travelling in the car with me one day when I stopped in a town where there was a huge lake. I let Monty out and wandered over to the edge- but he wouldnt go in!!! He was actually afraid of the other ducks!! It did make for a funny sight- and a lady did come up and ask if I was "dumping " him... No chance of that ever happening.

Its funny though how many people actually appreciate seeing someone taking ducks for a swim..its kind of the equivalent of taking a dog for a walk I guess. Sounds like you enjoyed having the little girl play with your ducks too! Its nice to be able to share them fro a few minutes sometimes.

I've been wondering if I would be able to do that. Do you have to bribe them to come back? How does that work???
