Here's Picotee, my poor Sebright cockerel who has to shelter-in-place because of a neighbor's conplaint:

We're allowed roosters here, but not if there's a complaint. Poor guy is now a house rooster.

I'm taking him on a field trip to a ranch tomorrow so he can at least get some sun and a good dust bath. Poor fella...

On the plus side, he hangs out with me while I teach from home.

He's my new wingman....

Yup! And by then you’re in too deep.

I was good and stuck to 8 chickens for like 4 years and then last year I added 5 more, bought an incubator, hatched for the first time (ended up with almost all boys), now have a rooster when I never thought I would, then added 9 more chickens this year and am now up to 19

It was 23 but have had some recent losses.

Anyway, 19 now and I had to build a new coop to house them all

And now I’m wanting to hatch Jack’s babies and waiting is so hard.

I added two parakeets this year and have quail eggs in the incubator right now so the addiction has spread to other birds as well

Wow, sounds like fun! You are going to be a busy lady! I used to have parakeets, I loved their happy little chirping, and they are so pretty! But where I live now there are lots of song birds about and I like hearing them. Did you get a hatch of Jack's babies, how did that come out?

For sure!! Haha have a lot going on atm! A lot of building still to do (still working on the new coop, almost done) and have to get the garden planted too haha

And yes! I love them!!! I got them in March and they’ve really been showing their personalities a lot lately haha the male especially is so happy!! Constantly singing and playing lol but even the girl is finally starting to show some personality too. She was so shy for a while haha

We have a lot of song birds too and they’re nice, especially when I go to walks near the pond/marsh where there’s even more, but I like hearing the budgies.

And I haven’t set any yet. But he’s finally mating all the girls (or trying lol) so hopefully soon.

Got the quail eggs in the incubator right now haha

Gorgeous! How do you deal with him being inside considering they can’t be housebroken? Is he wearing something on his back?
